Spanish artist and curator, lives and works in Spain.

Conchi Alvarez’s practice is grounded in a dialogue between contemporary painting and archaeological ways of seeing. Drawing on her background in Ancient History and Archaeology, she approaches the oil on canvas and the acrylic on panel not as a neutral support, but as a site of excavation: a surface in which layers of meaning are uncovered, accumulated, and brought into relation. Her paintings look beneath the visible to explore the myths, rituals, symbols, and inherited forms that continue to shape cultural memory.
